Teaching Assistant – Full Day, Full Year Program 

Location:  Johnson City, TN

Pay: $13.00 – $14.75/hr (based on education)

Schedule: Full-Time | ~30 hrs/week | Monday–Friday | Day Shift (12:00 pm to 6:00 pm )

What You’ll Do:

✅ Support children’s social-emotional growth with kindness and positive guidance

✅ Help create a safe, healthy, and engaging classroom environment

✅ Participate in classroom activities, home visits, and parent meetings

✅ Assist in observing and planning for each child’s developmental needs

✅ Help children on and off the bus and teach bus safety

✅ Keep accurate records, attend trainings, and collaborate with team members

What You’ll Need:

✔ High School Diploma or equivalent

✔ Ability to earn a Child Development Associate (CDA) within 2 years (we cover the cost!)

✔ 1 year of experience working with preschool-aged children

✔ Basic Microsoft Office skills

✔ Physical ability to interact with children and lift up to 50 lbs

✔ Valid TN driver’s license

✔ Must meet TN DHS Day Care Center requirements

Pay Scale (based on education):

• $13.00/hr – High School Diploma
• Up to $14.75/hr – Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education/Development

Additional Benefits:

• Healthcare through the State of Tennessee . UETHDA pays 100% of the monthly premium for the Employee Only (estimated cost paid by UETHDA for the employee is $600 per month ($7,200 annually). Additional insurance coverage is available but cost difference will be paid by the employee.
• Dental, Vision, Short-Term, Long-Term Disability and Voluntary Life Insurance options are offered  at 100% cost to the employee .
• Retirement Plan--Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System (TCRS). Eligible employees are required to contribute 5% of yearly wages (pre-tax basis to the defined TCRS plan). UETHDA contributes an amortized amount as determined by TCRS. Employees are vested upon 5 years of eligible service.
• Additional 401(K) and 457 Savings Plan also available without employer match.
